In 1954 Elvis Presley accepted a position at Crown Electric Company, where he started out driving a truck at $1 an hour, delivering supplies to building sites. He was hoping for the chance to train to be an electrician. He stayed at Crown until mid-October 1954 after having recorded his first record at Sun Studio. It wasn’t until then that he officially become a self-employed entertainer.

Peter Alden’s band – Crown Electric Company – was named as a nod to Elvis Presley’s start in life. Crown Electric Company (the band!)  is one of the hottest Rockabilly bands to hit the circuit. The cohesive group has all of the energy and talent that the first young “Memphis Flash” quadrupled, with lead singer Peter Alden, guitarist Terry Fulwider, Chris James on keybords, Joe Webber on bass guitar, and drummer David Fontana (son of Elvis’s original drummer DJ Fontana) – as musical directer. This album is available in cd form only.

Kingdom Classics ~ Disney Songs with a Rock ‘n Roll Twist

Growing up in the state of Florida makes it difficult to not notice the impact that Welt Disney World made and continues to make in so many ways. I first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1973 when my grandparents took our family down to the magical new “theme park”. We stayed at the Polynesian Resort (right on Disney property…WOW! Pretty cool for a 9 year old boy!

I visited the park many times over the years and finally landed a job there in 1989.  I worked at what had been my favorite attraction growing up…The Jungle Cruise! Along the way I also worked at Davy Crockett’s Canoes, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Haunted Mansion!  Disney MGM Studios was set to open up May 1, 1989 and I auditioned to be part of the opening crew. While there, I worked on the backlot tour as a guide on both the tram tour and the special effects area. I even had a brief stint as “The Rocketeer” when props from the film were being displayed there. I also had cameo role in an episode of The Mickey Mouse Club on television.

I left the theme parks as my musical career began to expand. I have found a niche in the world of 50’s & 60’s style of music as well as working as Elvis Presley in the show “Legends in Concert”.

Lately, I have found myself wondering what some of the Disney classic songs I loved as a child, as well as some of the newer songs, might sound like in a more retro rock & roll sound. The Kingdom Classics album is the result of that journey. I hope you enjoy these classic songs and some fo the more obscure ones as well. I believe we have kept the original integrity of the songs while transporting you back to the Golden Age of Rock & Roll. ENJOY!!

The Night Peter Alden would sing with Ronnie McDowell ~ Written by Krista Joy

The Night Peter Alden would sing with Ronnie McDowell ~ Written by Krista Joy

I think it’s safe to say that 2015 was probably one of the hardest years of Pete’s life, so far. Probably right behind 2013, which was the year he lost his son Gabriel to a rare brain disease. 2015 was a challenging time for both of us. So, when I heard that one of Pete’s all time musical heroes, Ronnie McDowell, was coming to Florida for a concert… I immediately bought tickets without a second thought. I had not seen Pete this excited about anything in a long time.

Best known for his visual and vocal resemblance to Elvis Presley, Ronnie McDowell enjoyed a series of Top Ten hits on the country charts during the first half of the ’80s. He hit big in 1977 with “The King Is Gone,” a tribute to Elvis Presley written immediately after the singer’s death; released on the Scorpion label, the song climbed into the Top 20 of both the pop and country charts. He scored a number one hit in 1981 with “Older Women,” which kicked off a string of 11 consecutive Top Ten hits on Epic; of those, “Wandering Eyes,” “Watchin’ Girls Go By,” “You Made a Wanted Man of Me,” and “In a New York Minute” all made the Top Five, and 1983’s “You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation” went to number one. He served as the singing voice of Elvis for a few more TV productions, and also sang some national commercial jingles. Ronnie McDowell released more than twenty studio albums, and has been signed to Curb Records since 1986.

It seemed to take forever, but finally, it was November 11th 2015, the night of the concert. We took the long drive, and when we got close, the roads turned to brick and we were bouncing down very dark streets and turning sharp corners until finally – we found a parking place. As we walked inside, I remember thinking that this was a pretty tiny theater for such a big star.

I am sure the show was phenomenal, but to be honest, I watched Pete’s face for most of the night. His smile was worth the wait. I enjoyed an unforgettable intimate concert and a fantastic night of music – with mostly my ears only. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Pete.

Pete almost never films anything! But it was a big enough deal, that he actually took his phone out for some video and even posted it on facebook later!

When the show was over, we started to walk towards the car.

Then, all of a sudden it hit me…

“WHY are we walking away from Pete’s hero??? He’s RIGHT inside that building! He’s got to come out SOME time!”

It took a lot of convincing…but I begged and pleaded with Pete to walk back into the lobby with me. I thought if we just hung around long enough…maybe Pete would get to meet Ronnie and I could get a photo of them together. It would be such a bright spot in this otherwise challenging year. Finally, Pete agreed to go back in. I remember thinking the lighting in the lobby was a weird blue. I was concerned it would ruin the look of my picture, even if Ronnie DID come out in our direction!

It was not easy to appear “busy” – and not like stalkers – as we stalled and waited around..hoping so much that we could catch Ronnie on his way out. We chatted with other guests and performers from the evening. Slowly the theater emptied out and we were definitely one of the last ones remaining. I thought maybe all was lost. Then, all of a sudden….it seemed like angels started singing inside my head. There was Ronnie…coming through the double doors into the weirdly blue-lit lobby. I nervously went over to him and asked if I could make the introductions. Ronnie was very sweet and obliged me.

Once my nervous and awkward introduction was out of the way…of course Pete was his charming self..and he and Ronnie began chatting like they were old friends. After a bit, Ronnie asked Pete what he does for a living, which next lead him to ask Pete if he would sing an Elvis song for him.

Pete said, “Sure – but first – can we sing one of yours?”

I don’t think Ronnie was expecting that. He seemed pleasantly surprised! Of course I grabbed my phone and was like..

“WAAIIT I HAVE TO FILM THIS!!”

Wow, I am so glad I did! The result – was this video below!

The song, “Tryin’ To Find That Girl,” is from Ronnie’s Album: I’m Still Missing You, which was released in 1991.

Fast forward to May 3, 2019 – when it all came full circle for me. We had a public show in Daytona, and I heard Pete mention Ronnie from the stage. Before I realized what was going on – Pete started singing this song. The very same one that he sang with Ronnie all those years ago. I am not sure if Pete was unable to find a track to this song before – or if he just wasn’t happy with the ones he found.

But I knew he had this specially made. Once again, I grabbed my phone as quickly as I could, to take this video for facebook live. Sometime while Pete was talking, a big panel came up on my phone – asking me if I wanted to tag my friends! It took me a good few minutes to get that panel out of the way – so that I could actually SEE what I was filming! My apologies for the shaky video. But at least you can HEAR how great it sounded.

Awesome job, Peter Alden. Way to go!

You hear him mention Ronnie McDowell at the end of the song, and that he “got a chance to sing this with him – a long time ago.” Pete was in such a fog that whole year, he probably does not even remember how or why it all happened.

But I will always know!

It amazes me sometimes, how hard I have to fight to make the miracles! But just about every time, Pete eventually gives in to my crazy ideas.

The best par is…he is almost always happy that he did.

OH .. and the blue- lit lobby picture from 2015? It came out pretty good too.

Peter Alden Featured on an Episode of The Mickey Mouse Club

Many remember the Disney Channel’s wildly popular The All-New Mickey Mouse Club which aired in the late ‘80s well into the ‘90s. It was similar to a “‘Saturday Night Live’ for kids” featuring interviews, skits, variety show-styled razzle dazzle, and of course, lots of singing.

Long before his album of Disney hits with a Rock ‘n Roll Twist Kingdom Classics was produced, Peter Alden did some singing on one MMC episode in particular – and we’ve got the video for you!  Other actors in this episode also went on to have pretty bright futures.  Watch for JC Chasez from NSYNC, Keri Russell from the TV Series “Felicity” recording artist Jennifer McGill and more.

Check out this episode of the show where you’ll find Pete singing beautifully as an “Elvis Impersonator.” Just fast forward to 4:43-6:00 to save time.

More about the show:

The Mickey Mouse Club’s Emerald Cove was a 1993-1995 American soap-opera based television series on the Disney Channel in a genre called ‘dramedy’, a mix of drama and comedy and a serial from the fifth, sixth and seventh seasons of The Mickey Mouse Club (MMC). It was produced by Blue Wave Productions, Inc. in association with Les Choux Company.

Emerald Cove was an updated version of the classic 60’s beach movies. It  centered around a group of surfers, musicians, and party lovers. Many of the episodes involved the band called “High Density” trying to get a job playing at Emerald Cove, a fictional local club that was filmed and located in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Other continuing themes are the problems that the teenagers encounter while trying to sort out their love lives over the summer, and deciding about college.

Peter Alden Endorsed by Legendary Disney Imagineer Terri Hardin

Followers and fans of Legendary Disney Imagineer Terri Hardin witnessed a gleaming endorsement of Peter Alden today on Facebook Live!  Terri attended Peter Alden’s performance at the Blue Suede Shoes of California Fan Club meeting and Peter’s sold out gospel show on December 15, 2018 in Palm Springs California. We were so honored to have her in the audience. Check out some of these great quotes from Terri’s broadcast:

Terri Hardin with Victoria Paige Meyerink (Elvis co-star in Speedway) and Peter Alden

“I thought when Krista invited me to do this, earlier, that Peter Alden was an Elvis Impersonator. I envisioned a guy in a sequin suit dancing around and wiggling his butt…and I thought no, not interested! BUT THAT’S NOT PETER! Peter creates The Elvis Experience. He is dressed very tastefully. He looks like Elvis, he said he always has, since he was young man, and he has this beautiful voice…so he thought … why not? Why not bring this voice to people? The gospel night was beyond compare and one the the best nights I have ever had!”

“I had a very entertaining and fantastic weekend.”

“Peter was singing Gospel. My mother had every Elvis album, or as they call them today, every vinyl. My favorite album had picture of Elvis is in his uniform from when he was drafted into the service. I wasn’t a big Elvis fan but gospel was my favorite. Elvis and gospel seemed to be the perfect marriage for me.”

“Peter is absolutely amazing and I will be posting video clips on my Facebook page.”

Peter Alden in the Press ~ Coachella Valley Weekly December 5, 2018

Peter Alden in the Press ~ Coachella Valley Weekly December 5, 2018

We would like to thank Coachella Valley Weekly and Lola Rossi for publishing a great article about Peter Alden and his Christmas/Gospel show in Palm Springs California!

Due to space limitations the paper was not able to explain the reason Peter Alden is dedicated to raising awareness about ALD. This is because he lost his son Gabriel to this rare brain disease in 2013. You can read more about Gabriel and his celebration of life, in this article in Around Osceola from 2013.

Gabriel Grigsby

Peter’s oldest son Nathan, did not test positive for the gene, and is a thriving, healthy 18 year-old.

Peter Alden Appears on “The Voice of Hope”

Andrea Kuczynski launched her multi-media platform “The Voice of Hope” to help others find encouragement and motivation to keep going, no matter what. Thursday October 11, 2018 Andrea invited Peter Alden to be her guest. Peter talks about one creative way that his father cared for him as an infant with hip dysplasia. He also covers other personal struggles. For the last several years, Peter Alden worked hard to get Newborn Adrenoleukodystrophy Screening added to the list of diseases newborn babies are screened for before leaving the hospital.  As of May 1, 2018, Florida is now testing all newborns for Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). Peter still speaks on a regular basis about this rare brain disease that took the life of his youngest son Gabriel Grigsby , and why early detection is key.

Click HERE to see video of Gabriel dancing as a healthy young boy.

We would like to thank Andrea for providing Peter Alden with this platform to share about overcoming difficult times in life, and inviting him on as a guest interview for your show. The interview begins about 6 minutes into the broadcast.

You can also listen to this interview in audio form HERE.

Andrea also has a podcast where her mission is to give you some hope for your day. She wants you to know that you “can make it through this day one step at a time. Just keep moving forward NO MATTER what.” She hopes you can find strength through her struggles and the stories of others.

Do You Sing at Funerals?

Peter Alden often gets asked if he sings at funerals. The answer is yes. In fact, he has a great number of years of experience in helping families come to terms with their loss. Peter lost his own son, Gabriel Grigsby, at the age of 10 in 2013.  Pete knows as well as anyone how celebrating a life with song – and the comfort it can bring – is a blessing.

Peter Alden has performed beautiful tributes at celebration of life, memorial and funeral services for years. It is always best to find someone with specific experience with this, and the sound of his voice has proven to be soothing and healing. While comforting mourners, a live vocal performance at a funeral can be a beautiful tribute to a departed loved one. Peter specializes in Gospel music – but he will work with you on any song request. Often our clients have specific song choices in mind – perhaps something they imagine their loved one would smile about. If it is hard for the family to make song choices, Peter is a wonderful at advising on what music would be suitable.

He also provides his own audio equipment.

While it can be a very traumatic experience to lose a loved one, we find that music lifts the spirit and can make a huge difference to a bereaved family. At a funeral or memorial, you can expect Peter to arrive early, stay for the duration of the service, listen dutifully to the eulogy, and leave promptly afterwards. More and more, people want to treat the funeral as an event to remember and to treasure, and as a celebration of life. If you need him to stay longer, he certainly will if at all possible.

We know from the great number of Thank you’s that we receive that music for funerals makes such a huge difference in the healing process and Pete feels that it is a privilege to perform in these circumstances. Our normal fee for a service such as this is deeply discounted.

As much notice as possible is appreciated but we understand when clients can only give us one to two days. Always feel free to ask me about his schedule, and we will fit you in if at all possible.  Contact me via email PeterAldenTeam@gmail.com or call my cell (407) 718-7462.
